Philippines

Hello Ma:

Received your letters of Feb. 4th, 11th, and 23rd. Also, the Christmas card from Mrs. E.M. Smith. Thanks. No, I do not know S/Sgt. Schuyler. His outfit is not at my base. In one of my previous letters, I mentioned that I had received the glasses and chocolates. Pretty good about Joe Fiddis. Major Miller taught chemistry and electricity at Polytechnic. I knew him, but never had him as an instructor.

Enclosed are some pictures (numbered on the back). Some may not pass censorship. So, don't be too surprised if you do not get them all.

      Pictures #1 and #2 - P-51 Mustang fighters.

Picture #3 - Our workshop and equipment tents at the airstrip.

Picture #4 - To the left is our squadron latrine. At the right in the background can be seen part of our mess hall.

Picture #5 - A Catholic church about a mile from my camp. Was built by the Spanish when they ruled the Philippines. It is still in use today. Built in 1704.

Picture #6 - Some crashed Jap planes.

That's all for this letter. Everything is quiet and peaceful. I am O.K.

And, so - until next time -

Earl

jokingly referred to as "Fort Pollock," in honor of the squadron's doctor, Captain R.W. Pollock.
