_ELA logo_ TONY CONN MEETS JFK _ELA logo_

In the mid-Fifties, future rockabilly singer Tony Conn, born Harvey Cohen, took part in a youth program in his hometown of Boston.   A local congressman named John Kennedy met with the boys.   Their photo appeared in the paper.

Young Harvey had sung "Wheel of Fortune," which was a big hit for Kay Starr, and he later got the future President to autograph the sheet music.

Later, as a senator, JFK helped Harvey Cohen find an agent, which resulted in his first professional bookings, as well as a name change to "Tony Conn."
