_ELA logo_ Why "Electric Earl"? _ELA logo_

In 1968, blues musician Muddy Waters recorded an album with a rock band, and the album was called Electric Mud. While living in Baton Rouge in 1983, I had put an electric pickup on my folk guitar so I could open for New Wave bands, and I put "Introducing Electric Earl" - along with my full name - on posters for the show. And, simply by accident, a few people (including local musician Harry Dog) started calling me Electric Earl. That seemed like a good stage name, so I've billed myself that way ever since.

Oddly enough, I have never heard the Electric Mud album. I just remember seeing it in stores and reading the reviews.
