(Ballad of An) Angry Young Man
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
INTRO: there's a shadow on the land.
you can't see it from
your place in the sun.
and you don't understand
how could anyone
be an angry young man.
I. nothing ever gets better
while you run the show.
we just go on forever
in your status quo.
and you think you have wisdom
'cause you have your degree.
but that isn't wisdom...
you just have a good memory.
II. you can try to instruct me
in your churches and schools,
and in vain reconstruct me
from your dead molecules.
but there is no religion
or philosophy
that could ever convince me
that life is the best it can be.
III. my mother and father
and I disagree.
but they should be grateful
for children like me,
'cause if all the people
throughout history
took after their parents,
we'd still be living in trees.
ENDING: there's a shadow on the land.
you can't see it from
your place in the sun.
and you don't understand
how could anyone
be an angry young
man, man,
angry young man------
