CUTTING THE PAST DOWN TO SIZE
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I. Madison Avenue ghost
colors the girls I have known.
they're singing La Vie En Rose.
paper sun shines on their throne.
CHORUS A: yesterday's love won't permit cloudy skies.
but people I meet all have rain in their eyes.
and so I'm cutting the past down to size.
II. new friends are just human beings
under a Mount Rushmore past.
I'm tearing down scaffoldings,
finally stopped mending the cracks.
CHORUS B: yesterday's love won't permit cloudy skies.
but people I meet all have rain in their eyes.
and so I'm cutting the past down to size.
cutting the past down to size. (cut it down!)
III. whenever love goes away,
feels like it won't come again.
instead of dying, I say:
"non, je ne regrette rien."
CHORUS C: yesterday's love won't permit cloudy skies.
but people I meet all have rain in their eyes.
and so I'm cutting the past down to size,
cutting the past down to size,
cutting the past down to size. (cut it down!)
