INSIDE THE PYRAMID
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I. in the tomb beneath the sand,
curators exploring like ants upon a hand,
finding all the treasure that was hid,
looking for redemption...
CHORUS: inside the pyramid
in the Valley of the Kings.
inside the pyramid
they've discovered many things.
II. there were princes by the score.
they had slaves and servants. none of them were poor.
nobody remembers what they did.
we only know the paintings...
CHORUS: inside the pyramid
in the Valley of the Kings.
inside the pyramid
they've discovered many things.
III. all the painters underground
bring their torches and stand before the wall.
"nothing we do ever will be found.
why do this at all?"
IV. three millennia have passed.
fifty-two princes and pharaoh turn to dust,
and the only things to last
are the tracings of the humble brush...
CHORUS: inside the pyramid
in the Valley of the Kings.
inside the pyramid
they've discovered many things.
(repeat chorus)
