THE LONG WAIT
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I. when the long wait is over,
crowds will dance in the street.
you'll turn around and smile on all you meet.
II. there'll be no consolation,
no sins to console.
and all your tears of lead will turn to gold.
BRIDGE: hurry now:
the moment will be here.
slower now:
so I can hold it near
before I disappear.
III. at the top of the mountain,
the climber still climbs -
and tries to plant the flag a few more times.
IV. but when the long wait is over,
there is nowhere to go.
even the four winds may cease to blow.
(repeat bridge)
