TOAST AND EGGS
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I. too tired to move
but too in love to sleep,
I draw the sheets back
and lie there in a heap,
pretending my hands
are her hands touching me
again.
II. she was shy,
unsure of her and me.
and I was scared
of setting myself free.
but these walls of sand
fell into the sea
of love.
III. come the dawn,
I wonder, should I rise
or keep my memories
fast before my eyes?
my thoughts are like
the sunshine in the skies,
making gold this world of greys.
ENDING: and I could imagine
going on for days
uninterrupted
by toast and eggs,
uninterrupted
by toast and eggs.
