PARKERSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA:   A VINTAGE PORTRAIT

FIRST STREET

Looking down at the corner of First Street and Avery (bottom of photo) around 1897. You can trace Green Street with a line between the two red dots, ending at the new high school at Seventh Street (later Washington Jr. High, then torn down in 1964 to make way for the UpTowner Inn). The bottom of Quincy Hill has been scraped clean. Left of the center of the photo is the Arthur Boreman house at Fourth and Avery (see Avery Street). (Courtesy of Dan Kemper)
