DRESS FOR FAILURE

WORDS & MUSIC:   Earl P. Reinhalter

            I. Indian warpaints,
                togas of dead saints,
                standing at the barricade,
                wonder why the state
                won't emancipate
                their carnival parade,
                their carnival parade.

       BRIDGE: slim Sandy, hair high.
wide Wally wears his wildest tie.
Jim the juggler, with nails in his hand,
throws things at the medicine man.
and Woofer and Tweeter both rant
in perfect meter: "give peace a chant."

           II. and Larry the leper
                and old Sgt. Pepper
                deface the castle grounds
                to voice their dissension,
                but no one pays attention
                to a bunch of clowns.
they're all a bunch of clowns.

          III. there goes Paul Revere,
                as Chicken Little nears
                Moses at the barrier.
                and John the Baptist pled
                with Crying Wolf and said:
"why do they dress for failure?"

       ENDING: Indian warpaints...
                togas of dead saints...
                wonder why the state
                won't emancipate...

                (repeat and fade)
